DiskAid is Windows program that lets you transfer files between your iPhone and PC.

If you need a program that makes it simple to transfer files between your Windows computer and your iOS device, DiskAid is a solid option. On the Windows side, DiskAid supports XP and all later versions, and on the iOS side, it supports just about any iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad running iOS 4 or later.

When it comes to connecting your Apple device to your PC, you have two options: USB or Wi-Fi. For a physical connection, which is the most direct method, you’ll require the appropriate proprietary cable. For the wireless connection, both devices must be on the same local network, and there’s a discovery feature that you can use from within the program to find and connect your device.

Once a link has been established, the program gives you access to the entire iOS file system. You can navigate through the folder structure and transfer messages, notes, video files, audio files, images, call histories, and more. Better yet, drag-and-drop is fully supported, and the UI is excellent for the most part. There are some difficulties backing out of nested folders at times, and sometimes, folder and files names are not completely readable. The program does have an effective search feature; however, and using that can overcome these limitations for the most part.

DiskAid even provides you access to the iCloud. You can peruse and transfer images, and there’s a preview feature. You also have full access to the iTunes library, and you can download music from that library via a direct export feature. The program also has a number of features for exporting other items from your Apple device into formats that are more appropriate for a Windows environment.

Perhaps the most glaring feature omission is synchronization features. Synced folders seem like a natural fit for a program like this, but if you need those capabilities, you’ll need to look elsewhere for now.

Pros

  • Supports iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch
  • Provides access to the entire iOS file system
  • Connect via USB or Wi-Fi

Cons

  • No synchronization
  • Clunky navigation through nested folders
